Abstract :
The authors describe an integrated wide-bandwidth, DC-coupled, current-mode preamplifier for photo-receiver applications. Common-gate configurations allow improved bandwidth and reduced sensitivity to detector capacitance variations compared with conventional common-source configurations. IC designs with projected speeds approaching 5 Gbit/s have been fabricated, the results will be used to design high-performance receivers targeted at 9.6 Gbit/s operation
