Abstract :
An optical receiver has been designed and fabricated which has a transimpedance of 53 dBΩ, a bandwidth of 12.5 GHz and an equivalent input noise current of less than 11 pA/√Hz over the bandwidth. A sensitivity of -20.7 dBm has been measured at 10 Gbit/s using a 27-1 pattern. To the authors knowledge, this is the best measured sensitivity reported for a 10 Gbit/s receiver to date. Simulation shows that this receiver is capable of operation at 15 Gbit/s
