Abstract :
Summary form only given. Polyacetylene shows optical and electrical anisotropy, depending on the degree of rnolecular orientation. The purpose of our study the is to elucidate the relationship between the molecular orientation and the electric conductivity. The degree of orientation estimated by an infrared dichroism showed a maximum value of 50% for the band of 1329cm/sup -1/ ( C-H in plane deformation ) at the draw ratio of 2.1. The electric conductivity parallel to the draw direction increased with the degree of orientation, while that perpendicular to the draw direction slightly decreased. The parallel to perpendicular ratio of the electric conductivity was about 3.5 at the maximurn draw ratio of 2.1.
