Abstract :
Summary form only given. Conducting polyheptadiene derivatives substituted with long side chains containing functional molecular units such as mesogen units exhibit unique characteristics. For example, poly(bis(4-methoxy-4´-hexyloxy biphenyl)-dipropargyl malonate) (PMHBDPM) which shows liquid crystal phase exhibits novel spectral change upon doping corresponding to the interactions of dopants with both main chain and biphenyl unit in the side chain. Ion diffusion constant evaluated from doping-undoping characteristics changes drastically at phase transitions between solid and liquid crystal and also between liquid crystal and isotropic liquid. These characteristics are discussed in terms of the structure studied by X-ray diffraction measurement.
