Abstract
A computational chemistry program is used to compare radically different architectures. The program, UHBD, has two complimentary stages with conflicting demands on both hardware and software. We study implementations using different programming strategies, one using an SPMD style and one using shared-memory constructs. We assess the value of having hardware support for shared-memory for unstructured problems
