Abstract
Summary form only given. This work deals with the problem of modeling and estimating the parameters characterizing the sonar clicks emitted by the Mediterranean bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) in the audio and ultrasonic bands. The clicks have been extracted from real data recorded by the CETUS Research Center along the Tuscany coast and have been modeled as multicomponent exponential and Gaussian signals. The characteristic parameters of the sonar clicks have been estimated by the iterative RELAX method and the results are presented and commented upon.
