Abstract
A sapphire rod resonator was presented here and the dimension optimization for the cavity was implemented based on the sapphire rod which is 6 mm in diameter and 30 mm in length. For a resonator the Q factor, coupling strength, energy portion on the sapphire were the most important factors. This paper will mainly focus on the analysis of these three factors. The relations between Q and cavity diameter and the eigenfrequency change with the cavity dimension were also discussed in the paper. The calculation results were based on the Finite Element Method (FEM).
