Abstract :
Optical single sideband modulated radio over fiber systems becoming popular since its dispersion tolerance. However, transmitter laser linewidth is an important parameter which enhances the relative intensity noise (RIN) and hence limits the bit error rate performance of the system and the link distance. We demonstrate use of mid span optical phase conjugation (OPC) technique to mitigate laser linewidth induced RIN and the performance of the system is evaluated in terms of bit error rate. From the simulation, it is shown that use of OPC provides improvement in the bit error rate.
