Abstract :
The deprivation of IPv4 address space has stimulated remarkable research effort in saving IPv4 addresses as well as the design of IPv6 protocol. Although the latter represents the advanced technique, its deployment has been put off and has been behind schedule due to the cost and complexity involved. One of the drawbacks of Mobile IPv4 is that it requires each mobile node (MN) to have a unique public home address and this causes a heavy demand for saving IPv4 addresses. In this paper, we propose an addresssharing technique so that addresses can be reused among MNs. Our technique is better than NAT (Network Address Translation) in that the MNs can still run services and be called from outside the network. Also, the idea can be applied to other interconnection scenarios where address mappings are needed.
