Abstract :
A concatenated system of binary phase precoding and turbo codes is proposed in this paper. Its performance is presented by using an analysis method. The upper bound of constituent encoders (5,7) and (23,35) with constraint lengths of 3 and 5 respectively, are computed by varying both the small information block size and spiral curve constants (coding rate ½). Results show that a significant performance is achieved with a higher gain than the results of the same constituent convolution code using with the same precoding scheme. In addition, this concatenated system is also compared to another similar system where trellis coded modulation with precoding is used. The better result confirms that this proposed system is a new powerful ISI cancellation method that can be adopted for wireless communications
