Abstract :
Three-dimensional (3D) modeling of geological body is an important issue of 3D GIS and 3D geosciences modeling (3DGM). Generalized tri-prism (GTP) model and its components are introduced in this paper. Based on the summarization and analysis of the existing 3D modeling method for complex fault, this paper put forward the 3D interactive modeling method based on Generalized TriPrism (GTP) which is rock pillar body partition modeling (RPBP).This paper defined the important concepts of rock pillar and boundary triangle. Through constructing the boundary triangle of fault, we can translate the complex fault into several simple fault series using RPBP method, and realize the 3D modeling of complex fault using the method of constructing simple fault series model. The programming test showed that the RPBP methods can accurately construct the 3D models of complex geological body.
