Abstract :
In third world countries, mainly due to economic reasons, the household electrical wiring systems are constructed to meet the minimum requirements. Such electrical wiring systems often fail to function effectively when adding new appliances to the circuits. In particular, the problem of circuit balancing is crucial. The circuit imbalance sometimes leads to destroying or malfunctioning of equipment. In the light of this the need for devices for circuit balancing has emerged. The design of such devices has evolved through electromagnetic devices to computer controlled devices. Nevertheless, the notion of intelligent devices is a relatively new approach to household circuit balancing. This paper proposes a design of computer controlled intelligent device for circuit balancing in house wiring systems. The proposed intelligent device is designed to have a hardware component and an intelligent software which is written using modern techniques in artificial intelligence. The intelligent program runs on a PC, thereby activating the hardware component to achieve circuit balancing accordingly
