Abstract :
Antenna modulation has received growing attention recently, with several published examples. This paper summarizes recent results in Direct Spatial Antenna Modulation (DSAM), with an emphasis on quantitative performance. Antenna modulation can be used to replace conventional modulator architectures, with potential savings in size, weight, and power (SWAP). DSAM is distinct from other antenna modulation approaches since it is focused on using exclusively spatial excitation differences rather than other more conventional approaches.
