Abstract
Network coding has been shown to be able to improve the throughput and power efficiency of wireless networks by mixing packets from different flows into a single packet. However, forcing packets to be coded may induce large delay and packet loss rate which is intolerable to some services such as real-time communications. This paper is focusing on two key problems: how to schedule packets and adjust the scheduling adaptively according to network conditions. This paper proposes EPSA (Efficiency Priority Schedule Algorithm) which is based on multiple basic service sets. EPSA takes real-time environment of the network as parameters, and then makes decisions on scheduling strategies. The simulation results show that, compared to the traditional network coding strategy, this mechanism enhances throughput and reduce the average delay, especially in complicated environments.
