Abstract
The urban, commuter school environment, as well as the personality traits of many engineering majors, pose special challenges to development of the people skills that are increasingly important in the workplace that our graduates will enter. Polytechnic University´s Executive Scholars program develops those skills by structuring, monitoring and supporting co-curricular and internship activities, along with a job guarantee as an added incentive for participation in this optional program. This paper describes the national and local environments that motivated this program, as well as its specific goals, component activities, organization, preliminary results, and future plans
