Abstract :
Radio data systems development started in 1983. at the European Broadcast Union (EBU). The developers aimed to ease the process of tuning to a station, especially as the number of broadcasters was increasing and the use of alternative frequencies to avoid interference made it difficult to tune to a certain station. The use of RDS overcomes this problem and also enables the transmission of the Programme Service name (PS), traffic information and other useful features which make the FM receivers more user-friendly.
