Abstract
Transoceanic submarine communication systems are one of the most challenging products in the field of optical communications, requiring application of cutting edge technologies. We review the processes behind design and construction of modern WDM ultra-long-haul systems with emphasis on turn-key solutions for trans-Pacific links and OADM networks.
