  • Abstract
A spirometer using a Turbuhaler dry powder inhaler as a flow head was designed. Using a single-board computer to calculate inhalation parameters and to control the user interface and auto-zeroing of the pressure transducer simplified the construction. The nonlinear relationship between pressure drop over the flow head and flow was linearized using a table in ROM. The resolution obtained was 2% at 5 L/min and 0.2% at 100 L/min. The equipment was found easy to use during clinical tests
