Abstract :
The systematic designing idea of optical simulation software for simulating and analyzing the beam propagation in the optical waveguides is described in the paper. Based on the theory of Finite-difference beam propagation method for calculation, the feasibility analysis and detailed module partitions with their respective functions of systematic design and implementation of optical simulation software on usual PC-based platform are discussed. With the systematic analysis and implementation, various types of waveguides can be edited, data of field distribution can be calculated, and visual resulting graphics can be displayed in the software system. Then the simulation of beam propagation through optical devices can be realized based on the systematic implementation.
