  • Abstract
Improving starting conditions and adjusting the speed of wound-rotor induction motor can be achieved by controlling its slip energy using chopper control circuit in the rotor side. This paper presents a novel Artificial Neural Network (ANN)-based chopper-controller. which generates the appropriate chopper duty cycle for my given operating condition. An ANN model was designed for that purpose. The results obtained are satisfactory and promising. The proposed controller operates on open loop. so it does not require speed sensor. Other advantages of such controller are its simplicity and high accuracy.
