Abstract
OEMs use test automation tools in the various phases of the product lifecycle. Internal test tool development efforts are often duplicated multiple times across the enterprise, sometimes within the context of the same project, increasing development and support costs as well as increasing time to market. Using a common base of COTS tools and a standard architecture/approach for testing across the enterprise offers significant economies of scale, while providing the necessary degrees of freedom and flexibility that are critical to successful widespread adoption.
