Abstract :
We present the design of a microstrip patch element with both frequency agility and polarization diversity over a wide frequency range. Conceptual verifications with hardware implementation using surface-mount lumped components was performed, and good agreement between measurements with simulations are presented. A measured frequency tuning ratio of 1.8:1 is presented for the circular polarization mode. The application areas are ground-based and satellite communication systems.
