Abstract
Summary form only given. Protonation of polyemeraldine with phosphoric acid diesters has been studied with the main goal of the preparation of thermally processable conducting polymers. Both diesters with alkyl and alkyl-Substituted aryl groups plasticize polyaniline in addition to its protonation. Rheological parameters of the polymer have been determined in order to optimize processing conditions. DSC and TGA studies have been carried out and showed that polyaniline protonated with aromatic diesters exhibits very high thermal stability which enables its processing at temperatures exceeding 200/spl deg/C. Electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical properties of phosphoric acid diesters protonated polyemeraldine have also been tested.
