Abstract
We improved measurement scheme for determining the optical fiber non-linear coefficient using four-wave mixing technique. The improved measurement source which uses one externally modulated continuous wave laser and one erbium-doped fiber amplifier only is described precisely. The proposed simple measurement scheme is polarization independent, enables high sensitivity, that leads to higher accuracy, and is applicable to all currently available types of fiber.
