Abstract
Implementation of multimedia systems and services at reasonable cost depends largely on the progress of semiconductor technology. This paper addresses the perspective of the multimedia, and issues and approaches for the solution. Discussions are extended in three categories: high integration, high performance and low power consumption, and short time-to-market. Timely development of leading-edge enabling technologies in the diversified fields is highly required.
