Abstract
Multiresolution (MR) basis has been effectively applied as preconditioner of the electric field integral equation (EFIE) discretized with the method of moments (MoM). The developed MR basis can be generated on completely arbitrary shaped geometries, without any topological limitation, and has been extended to structures formed by surfaces connected to wires. The MR basis functions are described as linear combinations of the basis functions usually employed in the MoM based codes, namely the piecewise linear (PWL) functions for wires modeled via line segments, the Rao-Wilton-Glisson (RWG) functions for surfaces modeled with triangles, and junction basis functions for modeling their connections. In this paper, the authors describe how the hierarchical basis can be efficiently combined with a fast MoM code in order to analyze electrically large wire-surface structures.
