Abstract :
A knowledge-based system for clinical diagnosis based on the ECG has been developed. It represents the expertise of human clinical doctors in the form of production rules. A rational control mechanism ensures that the system can appropriately schedule a number of problem-solving procedures. Each procedure is goal-driven and results in a converse-inference chain. The system uses the so-called top-down method to analyze the ECG information. The representation of the diagnostic knowledge and the system´s control structure are discussed
