Abstract :
A layout CAD (computer-aided design) system is presented that allows the flexible handling of different geometries to be used for IC design. The proposed parameterizable geometry model allows the user to make only the geometric features available to his CAD tools that are suitable for the current technology, hence providing the maximum efficiency for the tools´ operation. Presently the system provides six geometry classes including circles and circle segments. The model has been designed so that it is easily expandable even to arbitrarily shaped geometric structures. The flexible geometry model is incorporated into ADDICTION, the control data management unit of the layout CAD system IMAGE.<>
