Abstract :
Viscoelastic medium simulation is necessary for signal analysis in seismic survey. In this paper, we develop a simple and effective method for viscoelastic medium simulation using ray tracing. The signals are produced in the frequency domain, so that attenuation is independent on the frequency. The method can cover not only different recording geometries, such as surface seismic, vertical seismic profile (VSP) and cross-well seismic, but also more complex model. By extracting and analyzing quality factor from simulating signals, the method is proved to be effective.
