  • Abstract
    Summary form only given. Recently, we have investigated conducting polymers doped with electroactive dopants, i.e., ferrocenic sulfonates. These conductive materials showed an increased charge capacity, which was explained by the additional electro-activity of ferrocenic groups bound in the dopant molecules. The plastic rechargeable batteries using these conductive polymers as an electrode material showed excellent characteristics such as high charge capacity and high energy density. In order to increase the cyclability, the polymeric dopants were also modified so as to have the low redox potential of ferrocenic group which prevented the over-oxidation of polypyrrole. The characteristics of rechargeable battery using polypyrrole doped with this new polymeric dopant as a cathode material were investigated.
