Abstract :
Europe 2020, the main policy framework driving the activities of the Barroso´s Commission, aims to achieve a smart, sustainable and inclusive society. The Digital Agenda for Europe (DAE) puts forward more than 100 actions articulated along seven pillars to underpin Europe 2020´s objectives. The DAE is about increasing the quality of live, creating a better foundation for business opportunities and providing better services for citizens and business. It will trigger a virtuous cycle of removing bottlenecks to new services and innovation, stimulating demand and increasing incentives for the new investments in internet infrastructures. The European research and innovation initiatives on Future Internet are at the heart of this virtuous cycle.
