Abstract :
A novel approach is proposed for enhancement the contrast of the background and the vein texture image based on the combination of high-frequency emphasis filtering and histogram equalization, it overcomes the influence of luminous intensity and thickness of the back of hand skin. High-frequency emphasis filtering is used to give prominence to vein texture, and then histogram equalization is adopted to enlarge contrast of image. Experimental results show that the vein texture of image is clear, and it is an effective algorithm to enhance hand vein image.
