Abstract
Summary form only given. We have shown that, if the nonlinearity is strong compared with the linear coupling, solutions in the form of strongly localized modes (SLMs) do exist. Such vectorial discrete solitons can be classified as symmetric (odd and even where excitation energy is concentrated in one or two channels, respectively), asymmetric (even modes with unequally excited two main channels), and shifted (main excitations of the two components are in different waveguides). The existence of the latter two families is only due to the vectorial nature of the interaction.
