Abstract :
This paper describes the technical challenges of designing and deploying in-building multi-technology systems n high rise buildings coping with a polluted RF environment. This includes the discussion of the following issues: (1) Identifying the need for in-building solutions in Beirut city. (2) Technical challenges of limiting coverage to the inside of the buildings. (3) Explaining the usage of the BCCH simulator and study the attenuations before finalizing the design. (4) Design compliances with ICNIRP (International Council on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection) and Swiss laws for EMR (electro magnetic radiations) limitations. (5) Traffic analysis and predictions for business areas, shopping areas and hotel room usage. (6) Cost analysis and comparative between design with passive and active solutions. (7) Design and implementation 3G ready.
