Abstract :
A 3GHz source degenerated low noise amplifier (LNA), is developed to support a Radio Frequency Identifier (RFID) receiver in a variation tolerant environment. The standard LNA design was adapted for this purpose and was designed for 180nm CMOS process. The amplifier provides a forward gain (S21) of 12.27dB with a Noise Figure (NF) of 1.81dB, while drawing a power of 8mW from a 1.5V supply. We also present a reliability analysis of the effect of process variations on circuit performance. Monte Carlo (MC) simulations were used to verify these effects on the NF and Stability factor (Kf) of the LNA. The resulting spread obtained shows robustness to process parameter variations.
