Abstract :
Results of the on-line insulation diagnostic of turbine generators are provided. Measures taken to ensure the reliability of 1000, 500, 220, 120 and 60 MVA generators are discussed. Features of faults that occurred in the various types of insulation are given. Results of the partial discharge locations using off-line diagnostics are provided. The approach for stator windings failure risks minimization has been demonstrated to be successful without subsequent failure: (i) about 70 turbine generators with no defects; (ii) 4 machines with arcing in core; (iii) 6 machines with slot discharges; and (iv) 15 with different insulation
