Abstract :
This paper has demonstrated that it is possible to tune a single port mobile telephone antenna over a number of frequency bands. Including a simple matching circuit improves the band width but the challenge is to develop circuits that operate over many bands. A single layer bow tie element AMC array can be tuned over a substantive bandwidth using varactor diodes. Furthermore this can be applied to a dual band AMC structure where largely independent tuning of two bands is possible.
