Abstract :
This past year, the United States and the West Coast in particular, have been reminded of how limited their natural resources are and how much they are relied upon. They experienced sharp increases in the price of natural gas and gasoline for automobiles. Brown outs occurred due to limited supplies of electric power around the country. As occurrences like this arise, we are reminded of our responsibility as engineers to design, build, and use manufacturing equipment as efficiently and effectively as possible
