Abstract
In this paper, a prediction tool for wireless reception quality at 2.4 GHz that avoids the problems of both methods mentioned above is presented and validated. Path loss measurements have been executed in an office building in Ghent, Belgium and a dominant path loss model which is the basis of the prediction tool, is constructed based on the results. To avoid that the application of the model is restricted to a limited number of building types, little model tuning is performed. Firstly, the tool is validated with measurements on another floor and secondly, the prediction is validated with signal strength measurements performed in a wireless testbed network with WiFi 802.11b/g nodes.
