Abstract
Salplex has refined its Class A star wired multiplex system, which is now built using standard automotive wiring techniques and automotive quality connectors. Systems have been installed using different types of connectors and evaluated on many vehicles. Failures have been in the main attributable to terminals backing out or wires breaking at the point of termination. These mechanical faults occurred during more than a quarter of a million general road miles in the UK and abroad. These vehicles demonstrated the many practical benefits of multiplexed wiring, in particular the reduction of the number of both wires and harness connectors. It also demonstrated at reduction in the occurrence of harness problems common to all vehicles.<>
