Abstract
In this paper, robust decorrelating detectors for DS-CDMA communication systems with the alpha-stable channel noise are presented. The proposed detectors are derived using two optimization criteria: the least lp norm (LP) and the maximum likelihood (ML) criterion. The robust decorrelating multiuser detection schemes are implemented in an iterative form (with use of the IRLS algorithm), as well as in an adaptive one (with use of the RWLS algorithm). In order to compare these schemes with the conventional non-robust method, computer simulations are carried out. They show that all considered robust detectors significantly outperform the non-robust detection technique. The obtained results of Monte Carlo simulations show also relations between performance of the proposed iterative and adaptive detectors in near-far situation, as well as for different levels of channel noise impulsiveness
