Abstract :
Effects of sintered commercial Kovar™ alloys with controlled powder size and porosity on the corresponding mechanical properties were investigated in the present study. Experiments showed that the sintered alloys have lower coefficient of thermal expansion compared to the conventional casting ones. Porosity of the sintered alloys could dominate the decrease of the CTE value. Strengths and elongations for the alloys under various manufacturing procedures were also observed in the present study.
