  • Abstract
The author addresses those issues which are of relevance to the consumer who wishes to implement ISDN in the business or home. To put ISDN in perspective, the evolution of ISDN is briefly covered, followed by a description of British Telecom´s service provision. The impact on the consumer of Standards, the European Memorandum of Understanding and BABT approval is considered. The installation and maintenance testing of ISDN is addressed, with a particular philosophy being described. Both primary and basic rate access are covered, although emphasis is placed on the latter, this being the service aimed at domestic and small business users
