Abstract :
Case based reasoning (CBR) is potentially a very useful technique in engineering design. This project is aiming to realise this potential, by applying CBR in bridge design. The industrial collaboration has already identified suitable storage and matching criteria. Different retrieval techniques and indexing criteria are being investigated. By combining this research with the industrial collaborators´ experience in bridge design, it is anticipated that a useful bridge design CBR system can be developed.<>
