Abstract :
Nowadays, remote sensing missions and their analysis are carried out by multiple satellites or airborne images. Naturally, techniques for image fusion have attracted increased attentions and become a topic of major research. The fusion of images from the optical and SAR sensors enables an effective analysis by complementing the weakness of each other. However, unlike optical image, geometrical distortions commonly occur during image acquisition of SAR images due to the geometrical characteristics of the target ground. Thus, to use image data obtained from different sensors and different techniques, the preprocessing step that registers them in a common coordinate system is needed. In the paper, we propose an automatic image registration method for different sensor image fusion such as optical and SAR images.
