Abstract
Shows that the disc loaded horn is a useful hybrid mode horn which can produce reasonably low cross-polar levels and good input VSWRs. It is particularly attractive at low microwave frequencies, say 1 to 2 GHz, where corrugated or dielectric loaded hybrid mode horns are expensive to manufacture and very heavy. The disc loaded horn can be made with thin metal walls and lightweight disc-on-rod. The modal matching technique has been found to be an effective method of studying the performance of the horn
