Abstract
The authors demonstrate the variability of radioclimatological parameters which must be considered for slant path communication. The ray theory applied has its own limitations at small elevation angles and a hybrid theory involving both ray and wave mode solutions is in progress. Moreover, satellite transmission in the GHz bands at low elevation angles is seriously desired
