Abstract :
Optic fiber interconnection systems are increasingly being specified in the aerospace industry. The main advantages are low weight and immunity to electromagnetic interferences. However it can be considered that fiber optic cable is fragile, very sensitive to macro bending and difficult to install in aircraft without fiber damage or breakage. Draka Comteq and Draka Fileca have developed a new harsh environment fiber optic cable, which overcomes these concerns both during installation and operation.
