Abstract :
Research in the field of digital signal processing applied to speech has benefitted from the availability of an extremely wide range of mathematical algorithms, and has been the prime motivation for the invention of many of these. The main areas of speech processing research are concerned with recognition, synthesis, enhancement and coding. This contribution concentrates on coding which is generally concerned with the digitalisation of speech to achieve the best possible quality at a given bit-rate
