Abstract
A construction scheme for generating functions (GFs) suitable for particle tracking across arbitrary magnetic fields is presented. The GF is approximated by a power series solution of the Hamilton-Jacobi differential equation with analytical expressions for the coefficients. This approach is applied to magnetic fringing fields, which are presented as simplified analytical expressions. A short REDUCE code transforms the vector potentials automatically into an expanded GF
